The frightening drama series “American Horror Story” will get its fifth season after its first episode of season four set a ratings record and became the most-watched episode in FX history, FX announced Monday.

“AHS: Freak Show” drew a crowd of 10 million viewers last Wednesday night during the premiere, beating the third season of the show, the New Orleans-based season deemed “Coven,” by almost three million viewers, and closing in over the final season of “Sons of Anarchy” by about one million.

“‘The American Horror Story'” anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition,” the CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, John Landgraf, said.

Each season the series centers on a different location, so far including a haunted house, an insane asylum, a witches’ coven, and now a freakish circus show.

The fifth season will have 13 episodes and premiere in October 2015. (RELATED: ‘AHS’ Releases Official Trailer For ‘Freak Show’)
