Wendy Davis: Greg Abbott Is Exploiting His Handicap

Font Size:

We all know that “No” means “No.” But some of us have forgotten that if you’re asked a yes/no question and you don’t say “No,” you’re saying “Yes.”

This morning, Wendy Davis called into the Dede In The Morning program on K104 radio in Dallas. She was asked point-blank: “Is Greg Abbott exploiting his handicap in these commercials?”

“He’s certainly made sure that people are aware.” So, she thinks he’s exploiting his handicap by talking about it in his campaign ads. That’s the closest thing to an honest statement we’re likely to get from her. (Remember, this is a woman who once claimed that she filibustered a ban on late-term abortions because she’s “pro-life.”)

Her own campaign ad with the empty wheelchair wasn’t a fluke. None of those sly references to his disability — “Greg Abbott is kicking down the ladder,” “He hasn’t walked a mile in my shoes,” etc. — are accidents. She’s been reminding voters about Abbott’s infirmity throughout her campaign. It’s just that now she’s a lot more brazen about it.

What has she got to lose? She’s incapable of shame, more so than even most other politicians, and she’s down double digits in the polls. Might as well try to pick up the anti-paraplegic vote. Might as well pander to the hardcore leftists who’ll say absolutely anything to defame a Republican.

Might as well show us who she really is.
