Congratulations to Democrats in competitive Senate races: President Barack Obama won’t be going anywhere near you during the next eight days.

With little more than a week until election day, Obama will be forced to watch from the sidelines as the Democrats look to hold on to their majority in the Senate.

According to ABC’s White House correspondent Jon Karl, Obama won’t be campaigning “in a single place with a competitive Senate race,” while noting Obama did no campaigning today, with his only jaunt away from the White House being for parent/teacher conferences for his daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Over the final week, Obama will be campaigning on behalf of gubernatorial candidates in Wisconsin, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania, among others.

The only Senate race he will be playing any part in (as of Monday night) will be Michigan. Obama will be appearing with Rep. Gary Peters Sunday, who looks to be heading for victory against GOP challenger Terri Lynn Land in what was thought to be a toss-up early in the 2014 cycle.

Earlier Monday during the White House briefing, Karl grilled press secretary Josh Earnest, asking him if Obama is “politically toxic” for Democratic candidates. (RELATED: Jon Karl To Earnest – Is President Obama ‘Politically Toxic’ To Dem Senate Candidates)
