The president of the pro-Democrat organization The Agenda Project compared the upcoming midterm elections to cancer in a Huffington Post op-ed and fundraising email to her supporters.

Agenda Project founder Erica Payne, a co-founder of billionaire George Soros’ progressive Democracy Alliance donor group, also noted in her op-ed and corresponding email that “Ebola may be the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats.”

The Agenda Project’s Action Fund was responsible for the “Republican Cuts Kill” ad series blaming Republicans for trying to cut Centers For Disease Control and Prevention funding, despite President Obama’s own attempt to do so. An Iowa television station refused to run one of the ads because it featured images of dead, bloody Ebola victims.

“They say before you have cancer, you have lots of problems; and after you have cancer, you have just one. This year’s election is just like that,” Payne wrote in her HuffPo op-ed “It’s Ebola, Stupid,” and also in a Wednesday morning email to Agenda Project supporters.

“Before Ebola, we had minimum wage, immigration, student loans, social security, and equal pay. Now we just have Ebola. And if they don’t act fast, it’s going to cost the Democrats the Senate. But it doesn’t have to. In fact, Ebola may be the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats. If only they would realize it, before it’s too late…,” Payne elaborated.

Payne wrote that “studies have shown that when people are scared, they become more conservative,” but said that Democrats could use the fear to blame Republicans for fear-mongering.

“And therein lies the trick,” Payne said. “Don’t deny the fear, use it. Don’t pretend it doesn’t exist, blame it on the people who created it. Fear goes to the Republicans. Fear Jiu-Jitsu goes to the Dems.”
