In an interview with Huffington Post Live, former CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson hit back at criticism of her new book “Stonewalled” by the liberal group Media Matters, calling them a “paid left-wing blog” with close ties to President Obama and Hilary Clinton.

Attkisson said that she was not disturbed by criticism from “…the usual suspects. I mean, that’s part of the game. There are entire industries set up that perpetuate and work with partners in the quasi-news media or just bloggers online…” (RELATED: Reporter Says Federal Government May Have Hacked Her Computer)

Huffington Post Live host Alyona Minkovski asked Attkisson if she was referring to Media Matters. “Absolutely,” she responded

“What’s going on between you and [Media Matters]?” Minkovski pressed.

“I guess you’d have to ask them,” she said, “I try not to read them and look at them. They’re a paid left-wing blog, they’re very closely associated with Hilary Clinton and the Obama administration. You know, I think they have a job to do. I don’t think there’s anything necessary illegal about putting out information, even if it’s false.” (RELATED: Fox’s ‘The Five’ SLAMS Media Matters: ‘Inaccurate, Erroneous And Shameful’)

Attkisson pointed out the double standard in how the media treats Media Matters versus other media watchdogs. “I have had media ask questions raised by Media Matters, but they never ask questions raised by conservative equivalents. There are conservative media watchdogs, and the press I think kind of tell on themselves sometimes by taking Media Matters as if they’re somehow a credible source, while disregarding– not giving equal treatment to those on the other side.”

“Either you would ignore both or you would take information from both and act upon it,” she said, “but the media never seems to talk about the right-wing components, only taking information from the left-wing. I think that’s telling, and I address that in my book as well.”
