With Sen. Harry Reid on the verge of becoming the Senate Minority Leader after losing at least seven (and possibly nine) seats in the U.S. Senate, “The Five” co-host Dana Perino had some choice words for the Nevada politician as he exits the majority leader chair.

Perino told co-host Bob Beckel that Reid is “an absolutely poisonous person in politics,” and thinks the Democrats would be much better off if he moved on from his perch atop the Senate Democrats. The former White House press secretary added that if this were to indeed happen, he would probably lose his seat in 2016 as it “would diminish him” with a tough reelection coming up in 2016.

Perino: My point on Harry Reid is well known for a while, he’s an absolutely poisonous person in the United States Senate and politics and the entire country would be better off and Democrats would be much better off if he were to move on. But, I think he’s extremely powerful and has a big reelection coming up in Nevada and that’s going to be a tough race for him and they are not going to want to diminish him in any way. If they take away his leadership position, he probably will lose.
