Bernard Cazeneuve, France’s Interior Minister, has confirmed there is a “very high probability” one of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria militants involved in the beheading video released by ISIS over the weekend is a French citizen, the Jerusalem Times reports.

The revelation that a 22-year-old French citizen might have been involved in a video that purports to show the beheading of American hostage Peter Kassig — as well as several pilots for Assad’s Syrian government– comes after a British father identified his son among the killers. The man’s son, a British citizen, apparently traveled to Syria expressly to join ISIS, The New York Times reports(RELATED: ISIS Claims To Have Beheaded Peter Kassig)

“This analysis (by French intelligence services) suggests with a very high probability that a French citizen could have directly participated in carrying out these abject acts,” Cazeneuve told journalists in Paris. The man left for Syria in August 2013.
