There’s been a lot of talk around the country about Ferguson, Mo. ever since police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown on Aug. 9.

The Daily Caller is here, in Ferguson, waiting patiently, to help you get to know this small St. Louis suburb of 21,203 souls a little better before the grand jury ends its deliberations and either presents an indictment to St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Robert McCulloch or finds no true bill.

According to City-Data.com, the racial breakdown of the population in Ferguson is:

Black: 64.9 percent

White: 30.6 percent

Other: 4.5 percent

Estimated median household income: $36,121

Median resident age: 33.1 years

Average total number of murders each year from 2000 to 2012: 1.72

Annual number of violent crimes per year per 1,000 residents: 3.77 (according to Neighborhoodscout.com)

Annual number of property crimes per year per 1,000 residents: 51.75

Best Chinese food in Ferguson: It’s probably, Northland Chop Suey Chinese Restaurant, if Yelp reviewers are to be trusted. The restaurant on West Florissant Avenue is currently well-boarded-up but still open, according to large, spray-painted words on the boards. The food is “awesome” and “you get a whole lotta food” at cheap prices.

Elevation: 508 feet

Best pizza: It’s definitely Faraci Pizza, according to Yelp. This “a rare jewel” of a family business has been around for ages, offering “St. Louis-style pizza” — which means thin and cheesy — with “generous toppings and excellent, friendly service.”

Land area: 6.19 square miles

Best burger: Without question, it’s Ferguson Burger Bar & More, say Yelpers. “The garbage burger is to die for. The fries are fresh, hot and crunchy,” says one satisfied customer. “Hands down the best fried fish sandwich I’ve ever had and I’m from the south,” adds another. “Breakfast is also served.”
