Appearing at a conference with the National Sheriffs Association, Sen. Jeff Sessions continued his assault against President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty. At the conference, the Alabama Republican remarked that he and other elected officials in Congress “are going to fight this illegal amnesty and we are not going to stop.”

“We are going to carry out the mission the voters sent us here to do.  We are not going to give in,” continued Sessions. “We are not going to yield. We are going to stand strong for the American people.”

Sen. Sessions: “Three weeks ago, the president issued an an executive order nullifying the federal immigration laws of the United States. President Obama’s executive amnesty will give amnesty to five million illegal immigrants, provide them work permits, photo identification documents, Social Security documents, access to Social Security and Medicare, taking jobs and benefits directly from struggling American lawful immigrants and our native born.”

“With his order, President Obama has violated the laws that Congress has passed in order to execute and carry out laws that Congress has refused in the past. This executive order was crafted behind closed doors with powerful special interests. Excluded from those meetings were law enforcement officers, many of whom stand behind me today. These sheriffs are here to tell you how the president’s illegal amnesty devastates and undermines law enforcement. A government must serve it’s own citizens. That’s who are duty is: to our citizens and lawful residents. We have cities and towns across the country that are struggling with crime and poverty, unemployment and low wages. Our people are hurting, but with this executive order, the president has abandoned those communities, has made it harder for the unemployed, has made it harder for those with low wages to get an increase in wages. There is no doubt about that.”

“We must serve the American people We must serve the laws of America. We must serve the constitution. Like the sheriffs with us today, those of us in Congress took a solemn oath too.”

“So I have a message today to every leader in Congress, to every official in the White House, and to President Obama: we are going to fight this illegal amnesty and we are not going to stop. We are going to carry out the mission the voters sent us here to do.  We are not going to give in. We are not going to yield. We are going to stand strong for the American people.”
