Richard Engel doesn’t envy his colleagues.

Despite having been kidnapped in Syria in 2012, NBC’s chief foreign correspondent says he much prefers his beat to the less life-threatening beats of other reporters.

“I love what I do. I think I have the best job in journalism, frankly,” Engel said on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Thursday morning.

“Can you imagine having to cover Congress and Washington and consumer affairs?” he went on. “Or standing outside, you know, ‘It’s raining out here’ and ‘Here’s a yard deep of snow.’ I would shoot myself.”
