Neurosurgeon Ben Carson, preparing for a likely outsider bid for president as a Republican, is in Israel this week, touring the country for his first time.

A trip to Israel is fairly typical for someone who wants to be president, and Carson is touring with an entourage that includes his wife, Candy, his top adviser, Terry Giles, and his business manager, Armstrong Williams.

Williams told The Daily Caller that the trip is a “fact-gathering mission to learn about the Middle East.”

Carson is expected to announce sometime in the spring whether he plans to run for president. It appears he is leaning towards running: he is already busy interviewing potential campaign staffers.

Carson’s aides provided The Daily Caller with some photos of Carson, who will be in Israel through Dec. 20.
