Louis Farrakhan — head of the Nation of Islam and well-known political radical — made headlines in late November when he threatened retaliation for the death of Michael Brown.

“As long as they [whites] kill us [blacks] and go to Wendy’s and have a burger and go to sleep, they’ll keep killing us,” Farrakhan proclaimed to a Baltimore, Maryland audience on Nov. 22. “But when we die and they die, then soon we’re going to sit at a table and talk about it! We’re tired! We want some of this earth or we’ll tear this goddamn country up!” (RELATED: Farrakhan On Ferguson: ‘We’ll Tear This G**damn Country Up!’)

Brown, a black man, was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri after an altercation in August. The case sparked nationwide protests and outrage at what was perceived as a case of unpunished police brutality.

On Saturday, Ismaaiyl Brinsley shot and killed two New York Police Department officers in retaliation for the deaths of Brown and Eric Garner — another black man who died in a altercation with a white police officer. Farrakhan claimed that there is a “law” justifying retaliation for cases like Brown’s and it is found, in the firebrand’s opinion, in both the Bible and the Koran.

“In this book, there’s a law for retaliation,” he said, while brandishing what appeared to be the Nation of Islam version of the Koran, and repeated, “A law for retaliation.”

He also exhorted to his applauding audience, “We going to die anyway. Let’s die for something.”
