Chad Kelly — nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly — allegedly threatened to go on a killing spree only days after signing a letter of intent to play for the Ole Miss Rebels next year.

Kelly was involved in an altercation outside of a Buffalo-area club on Sunday night. After punching a bouncer in the face, Kelly said he was, “going to go to [his] car and get [his] AK-47 and spray this place,” before storming away, the Buffalo News reports.

Police confronted Kelly in his Ford F-150 pickup and forcibly removed him from the vehicle after he resisted arrest.

Authorities charged Kelly with third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, second-degree menacing, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. He was released without bail.

This fall, Kelly played ball at East Mississippi Community College, the same junior college attended by current Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace. Both Wallace and Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze had developed a close relationship with Kelly in the lead-up to his signing.

Ole Miss has not commented on the incident.
