Fox News Tops Ratings During Wednesday’s Breaking News Coverage Of Paris Attack

Fox News Channel won the ratings battle during Wednesday morning’s breaking news coverage of the brutal terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris.

Fox drew more total viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined from 6-9 a.m.

while beating the Turner network in the coveted 25-54 demo as well.

According to Nielsen, 961,000 total viewers and 233,000 25-54-year-olds tuned in to “Fox & Friends, while CNN’s “New Day” pulled in 471,000 and 205,000 in total viewers and the 25-54 demo.

CNN’s ratings picked up later in the day, beating Fox in the demo during primetime (390,000 to 353,000) and in total day (261,000-217,000), though Fox crushed CNN in total viewers in both categories. Fox attracted more than two million viewers (2,125,000) compared to CNN’s 941,000 in primetime, while posting 1.2 million in total day compared to CNN’s 718,000.

Meanwhile MSNBC lagged far behind in third during primetime, posting only 741,000 in total viewers and a lousy 164,000 in the demo during primetime. The liberal network didn’t fare much better in total day figures, raking in only 395,000 in total viewers and 95,000 in the 25-54 demo.
