Kansas state representative Gail Finney’s week on social media consisted of circulating an erroneous tweet falsely accusing a police officer of fatally shooting someone and endorsing a crude Facebook comment about a local reporter who had the temerity to do her job.

On Wednesday, Finney, a Democrat from Wichita, re-tweeted a post from a blogger at the site “Kansas Exposed” who published the name of a city police officer who allegedly shot and killed a man last week.

But it turned out that the blogger, who felt that the police shooting was unjustified, identified the wrong cop, Wichita’s KWCH reported.

Finney deleted the tweet. But when asked about it by KWCH reporter Lauren Seabrook at a public forum, Finney grew hostile, asking, “Are you harassing me? I said I’m not interested.”

But Finney’s enmity for the reporter didn’t end there, and appeared on another social media platform.

A commenter on the Facebook page of the erroneous blogger — who himself was miffed at Seabrook’s reporting on his false story — wrote “I wonder how many blowjobs it takes for one of the pretty reporters to get a job? They don’t hire for brains.”

In a poor show of judgment, Finney “liked” the offensive comment.
