President Barack Obama’s presence was notably absent at the Unity March in Paris, France on Sunday.

At the subsequent briefing, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was not able to elaborate on Obama’s actions that precluded him from making the trip to Paris, but the administration made great strides in making sure the public knew what the president was doing on Monday: cracking corny jokes about the 2014 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. (RELATED: White House Admits Screw-Up In Handling Of Paris Unity March)

Al right, these aren’t half bad, but two lines in particular rubbed me the wrong way.

1) The Popovich joke was EXTREMELY accurate, and I doubt Obama realized just how backhanded it was. The Spur’s head coach is infamous for resting his marque players during not-so-important games. Obama says he thought about pulling a “Pop” move. Turn that around, and it explains why Obama didn’t show for Sunday’s march; in his mind, it just wasn’t that important.

2) You’re from Chicago. We’ve known this whole time. No need to “admit” to being a Bulls fan.

P.S. — Barry’s jumper still needs some work.
