New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was given some helpful advice Tuesday in the form of an enormous, flying banner.

“We would never suggest that the Mayor of New York City is using or has ever used any Illicit substance. We prefer to think of this as a turn on a common phrase,” Retired NYPD for a Safe New York said in a statement after flying a banner over the city’s harbor with the message: “De Blasio Get Off The Pot. Resign. We Love NYPD.”

This particular banner is another in a series of critical statements made towards the mayor via high-flying opinions from retired NYPD officers and other law enforcement in the past.

The banner appears to take a shot at the mayor’s response to The Daily Caller’s question last week as to whether de Blasio and his wife have smoked marijuana at Gracie mansion since he first became mayor. De Blasio only stated that he hadn’t smoked weed since he was a student at New York University. He did not, however, say anything about his wife.

A spokeswoman did tell NBC 4 New York that de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, has not smoked marijuana since she became first lady and that the last time she did smoke pot was a “very long, long, long, long” time ago.
