George Jung, the drug lord who smuggled an obscene amount of cocaine into the United States in the ’70s and ’80s and inspired the film “Blow,” was released from prison in June 2014, and for the first time since his release Jung met up with Johnny Depp.

Depp played Jung in “Blow,” a 2001 film.

Jung served almost 20 years in a New Jersey prison after he was reportedly responsible for importing almost 89 percent of the cocaine that was in the country, and TMZ is reporting that Depp reached out to Jung, now 72, so the two could catch up, along with Depp’s fiance Amber Heard.

Jung, nicknamed “Boston George,” was arrested in 1994 with over 1,700 pounds of cocaine in Kansas. Jung’s 60-year sentence was reduced after he testified against his former business partner Carolos Ledher. Since his release, he has lived in halfway-house on the West Coast.
