Patriots Coach Bill Belichick called an impromptu press conference Saturday afternoon to address the “Deflate-Gate” allegations levied against his team.

Belichick, who maintained both his innocence and that of his team earlier this week, said that this experience illustrated just how little he knew about the pre-game ball inspection process. Additionally, Belichick stated that the Patriots’ own internal investigation had revealed that, “at no time was there any attempt whatsoever [by members of the Patriots organization] to try to compromise the integrity of the game or gain an unfair advantage.”

At the end of the press conference, Belichick said that he had spent an embarrassing amount of time looking into the possibility of foul-play. He felt compelled to speak Saturday because it was an important issue that needed to be addressed, and this would be the last time he will speak on the issue.

Belichick closed by stating that the remainder of the Pats’ season would be used to prepare to face Seattle in the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Arizona.
