The only openly gay member of the Alabama state legislature is threatening to out same-sex marriage opponents who are gay or have extramarital affairs.

Local news channel WSFA reports that Democratic state Rep. Patricia Todd made a statement on her Facebook account this past weekend in defense of a ruling allowing same-sex marriage. She was rebutting House Speaker Mike Hubbard’s criticism of the ruling. He vowed to continue to stand up for “Christian values.”

Todd outlined her plan to divulge her peers’ secrets if they continued to block gay marriage. She said, “I’m going to try and hold you in check. Because some of you folks don’t exactly have the greatest family values either. So be careful when you start throwing that brick.”

She also acknowledged that the move will not make her popular with her colleagues. “I realize that it’s not a popular opinion,”  Todd added. “I’ll get a lot of backlash, but at this point in time, I’m willing to risk everything politically to make this happen.

Hubbard responded with a statement to Todd following the video’s release.

“I consider Rep. Todd a friend and we have enjoyed a good and cordial relationship, so I am sorry that she is upset about my remarks,” the speaker said. “We do have a fundamental disagreement on allowing same-sex marriages in Alabama, and I will continue to voice my opinion on this important social issue, just as I expect she will continue to voice hers, but we can disagree without being disagreeable.”
