A 32-year-old Wichita, Kan. man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his SUV in the parking lot of a McDonald’s.

Nine children ranging in ages from 5 months to 12 years old were in the vehicle with the man, Edmund Gulley.

According to the Wichita Eagle, city police Lt. James Espinoza said he couldn’t recall a case in which so many children were in one vehicle during a DUI stop.

A woman called 911 shortly after midnight Sunday to report a man passed out in the vehicle with children present. Police responded and believed Gulley was under the influence. He refused to submit to a sobriety test and was arrested.

Gulley had a revoked driver’s license, the Eagle reported. His driving privileges have been suspended or revoked multiple times since 1998.

Six of the children were Gulley’s. The other three are his nieces and nephews.

The girls in the vehicle were 5 months old, 5 years old, 8 and 9. The boys were 6, 11 and 12.

The children were released to the custody of another family member. Gulley bonded out of jail.
