TheDC Investigates: Is Gov. Bobby Jindal White?

Bobby Jindal is the Republican governor of Louisiana. An extremely brief investigation reveals that he was born in Baton Rouge, La. and descends from immigrants of India. His parents — Amar and Raj Jindal — came to the U.S. from Punjab just six months before he was born. His birth name is Piyush Jindal. (His children all have names that begin with the letter “S.”)

But a portrait lent to Jindal by a constituent makes him look absolutely nothing like himself and rather Caucasian. What the hell?

(On a brighter note: See WaPo’s Wesley Lowery? You’re not the alone!) [RELATED: TheDC Investigates: Is WaPo’s Wesley Lowery White?]

Louisiana political blogger Lamar White (no pun intended) tweeted the artwork by Independent Media Group’s Robin May.

Mediaite had the news. You have to appreciate the “Free Obituary Search” from Ancestry.com atop the story.

UPDATE/CORRECTION: Kyle Plotkin, Jindal’s chief of staff, writes in to say that the above is not Jindal’s official portrait. Rather, it’s “on loan from a constituent.” A few words above have been changed to reflect that.
