Kid Rock may have a favorite candidate for 2016.

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, the Michigan-based musician named Ben Carson as someone who he could get behind in a presidential race.

“I’m very interested in the things that Ben Carson has to say,” Kid Rock said.

Carson, a former brain surgeon and favorite of the conservative grassroots, is gearing up for a White House campaign as an outsider.

The musician, in the interview, also listed his home state governor, Rick Snyder, as someone else who should “go for the gold.”

Not only did Kid Rock endorse Mitt Romney in 2012, but he agreed to let the Republican campaign use his “Born Free” as a theme song.

Asked about making a formal endorsement, he cracked: “When I see other people do it, when I see Springsteen and Jay-Z do it, I’m like, What a bunch of idiots. And then I’m looking in the mirror like, You’re an idiot, too. Pot, meet kettle.”

Imagine what Carson’s walk-up will be like with Kid Rock’s music…
