The owner of an amusement park in North Carolina wants to build the largest cross in the Western Hemisphere.

Ghost Town in the Sky, built on a mountain in 1961 in Maggie Valley, N.C., is owned by Alaska Presley, Fox 8 reports. Presley bought the park in 2012 after it went into foreclosure. The park reopened last year, and while parts of the amusement park were up for sale, they were taken down because of increasing interest in the park, WLOS reports.

She wants to use the steel rollercoaster to build an enormous cross to place on “Resurrection Mountain.”

Surveyor Marty Owens said on Thursday that Presley is hoping for the cross to be a “couple hundred feet.”

“I think she’s hoping for I think a couple hundred feet. You can see the drop tower now,” Owens said. “So you put something approximately that tall, maybe taller, you’ll see it from the valley I’m sure.”

Local churches and at least some residents support the idea.

“I don’t have a problem with the cross up there at all as long as she just does something,” Lee Thrower said.
