The wedding between 80-year-old Charles Manson and 27-year-old Afton Elaine Burton, aka “Star,” was going to be the social event of the prison-wedding season. Sadly, the nuptials have been cancelled.

Journalist Daniel Simone discovered Star’s plan “lay out Manson’s remains in a glass crypt” and reported on their break up.
The marriage certificate the couple had acquired expired last Thursday, which was one barrier to wedded bliss for the couple who, frankly, deserve each other. But the biggest impediment may have been how Manson’s mental reality conflicted with Star’s plans. Seems Manson believes himself to be immortal, while Star saw their future much more closely tied to his being dead.
While all involved are different levels of crazy, it would appear Manson managed to outsmart Star and her co-conspirator Craig Hammond, who cooked up their plan two years ago. The bride-to-be and Hammond provided Manson with “toiletries and other items” that presumably have value in prison. Manson, by living and not marrying Star, provided them with nothing.
