As Politico Playbook proprietor Mike Allen rightfully mocked this weekend, WaPo had a whopping 10 bylines covering the Brian Williams story.

Embarrassingly enough, WaPo had to correct its Sunday A1 story on Williams because they reported that he went on shows like “Ellen” and “Late Night With David Letterman” 146 times between 2006 and 2011.

Except — oh crap — the actual number is 80.

On Sunday, Allen sniffed, “BRIWI PILE-ON CONTINUES: In case ya hadn’t heard that Brian Williams has an embellishment issue, the WashPost has 10 reporters on the case.”

And on Monday he pointed to the following correction.
