Separated At Birth: Rep. Louie Gohmert

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) isn’t in the greatest political state of being as of late.

Ever since he’s lost that race for House Speaker — he earned an embarrassing three votes — luck hasn’t been on his side.

In late January, the watchdog group Crew accused him of illegally using campaign funds for a trip to England and filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics.

As for the press, predictably he sees friends in conservative outlets like Breitbart News and TheBlaze (where just a phone call from him can get a reporter fired). But he’s not so keen on the lefty Raw Story or the perpetually unreadable Wonkette, which has referred to him as a “Congressmoron.” The congressman recently lashed out at Raw Story via Brietbart (Breitbart can be good for that if you’re a right winger or presidential fake hopeful Donald Trump.)

In an “exclusive interview” to Breitbart Texas, Gohmert called the headline that the liberal writer over at Raw Story ran “a lie” regarding something he said about his female Republican colleagues. The congressman called the blogger a “left wing troll.”

Breitbart‘s Matthew Boyle came to Gohmert’s rescue just last month when he wrote that the lefty HuffPost had assumed Gohmert was talking about basketball when he referred to his “black coach.” It was actually a football coach, which Gohmert made clear to Breitbart.

Despite the Breitbart writer’s claim that HuffPost had not yet provided a correction, there is this bizarre thing called a CORRECTION: “CORRECTION: This story originally stated that Louie Gohmert compared the president to his high school basketball coach. Gohmert did not specify a sport.” Breitbart soon updated its story to say that HuffPost had added a correction.

But maybe things are looking up for Gohmert: There is this doppelgänger.

It’s Gohmert and Mr. Burns from “The Simpsons.”
