The Department of Justice will not charge George Zimmerman with violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights, sources tell ABC News.

The DOJ will soon notify Martin’s family that it will not charge Zimmerman with civil rights violations because federal prosecutors reportedly don’t think there is enough evidence that Zimmerman intentionally violated Martin’s civil rights.

In July 2013, Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in a state trial in Sanford, Fla. and was able to walk free. Angry civil rights leaders, however, still urged for an investigation and civil rights charges.

The DOJ will release the details of the investigation before it releases information about the Ferguson investigation, sources tell ABC News.

Since the Martin incident, Zimmerman has not kept his nose clean. He has had multiple run-ins with the law, including a charge of aggravated assault for throwing a bottle of wine at his girlfriend.

Zimmerman was accused of displaying a firearm during an altercation with his girlfriend in September of 2013. A month later, a different woman he was dating accused Zimmerman of pointing a shotgun at her.

The problems were not just domestic. A man accused Zimmerman, who was armed, of threatening him in a traffic dispute. The man did not press charges.

The DOJ had already hinted that it would not press charges, but this newest report indicates that the decision is finally made.
