Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber has been fired from the board of Massachusetts’ state health care exchange.

Republican Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker reportedly “demanded and received” the resignations of Gruber and three other members of the Massachusetts Health Connector Board Wednesday. Baker wrote a letter expressing gratitude to the four for “agreeing to resign from that board.” Gruber had served since Mitt Romney’s governorship in 2006.

MIT professor Gruber’s infamous quotations about the “stupidity of the American voter” and detailed descriptions of how he worked with the White House to deceive Americans while writing Obamacare outraged a vast cross-section of the American public. Vermont’s state auditor this week found inconsistencies in Gruber’s billing of the state for health care-related work.

Gruber previously lost his job at Picwell, a government contractor that analyzes the choices made by Obamacare customers.
