Giualiana Rancic, the host of E!’s brash fashion commentary show, has apologized after saying one black actress’s dreadlocks looked like they smelled like weed during the Academy Awards Sunday night.

Rancic made the comment as she and the other hosts of “Fashion Police” reviewed Oscars outfits Monday night. Zendaya, 18, wore a white Vivienne Westwood gown with her dreadlocks pulled half back.

“I feel that she smells like patchouli oil…or weed,” Rancic said during Monday night’s show.

“Yeah, maybe weed.”

Zendaya, the pop singer and former Disney star, responded on Twitter Tuesday and said that she thought there was “a fine line between funny and disrespectful,” and called Rancic ignorant.

Kelly Osbourne, who also hosts “Fashion Police,” threatened to quit over the incident and gave “everyone involved” 24 hours to “make it right.”

Rancic apologized on Twitter and clarified that her comment was not about race, and then apologized again Tuesday night on E! News. (RELATED: Did ‘American Sniper’ Just Get Completely Snubbed At The Oscars?)
