MSNBC host Alex Wagner was openly contemptuous of her own network’s leadership Thursday, when she momentarily called them “woolly mammoths” for refusing to cut to President Barack Obama’s Black History Month speech on the third anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin. “The woolly mammoths who run this network have finally backed down,” she sniped as her guest fellow MSNBC host Joy Reid laughed. “Let’s hear what Obama, the President had to say about Trayvon Martin earlier, just moments ago.”

Making the moment doubly awkward was the presence of Reid, whose show “The Reid Report” had just been cancelled by MSNBC honchos. Mediaite reports that their MSNBC sources were openly antagonistic to the decision, calling it “a slap in the face of a woman of color,” and claiming Reid was “given no support and no promotion.”
