A Chris Christie source cannot seem to get his dates right when it comes to his boss’s fundraisers.

The Daily Caller reported last Wednesday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie supporter, Home Depot founder Ken Langone, “is not hosting any fundraisers for Governor Christie at this time.” The news came as Christie’s likely GOP competitors in the 2016 primary for the Oval Office were reportedly poaching donors in his backyard — Manhattan.

However, a Christie source contacted TheDC last Saturday and said Langone was scheduled to host a fundraiser last Monday and later attend another Christie fundraiser in Los Angeles this week. The New York Daily News, though, spoke with Langone himself who told the outlet he “did not have an event with Gov. Christie” on Monday. In fact, The News discovered through Christie spokesman Mike Duhaime that a Langone fundraiser was never scheduled for Monday to begin with.

TheDC followed up with a Christie source who did not say why wrong information about a fundraiser was released, and only that Langone would be hosting Christie in Palm Beach this Friday. No indication was given if the fundraiser on Friday was scheduled before or after TheDC initially reported on Langone’s support for Christie last week.

Christie is currently struggling to get a foot-hold in the polls at the moment. According to a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind survey, 35 percent of registered voters in the Garden State say they approve of the Republican governor’s job performance. Fifty-one percent, though, disapprove of the governor’s job. Christie is also no longer a favorite among Republican voters at large and is currently looking for a path to raise his prospects in the poll.
