Supporters of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry have formed a super PAC to support him if he runs for president in 2016.

The political action committee, the Opportunity and Freedom PAC, says they will “educate voters on Perry’s record as governor of Texas and promote his vision for the future of America.”

It’s expected that most candidates for president in 2016 will have super PACs backing them. While they can’t coordinate directly with candidates, super PACs can collect unlimited amounts of money and spend them in ways to help their preferred candidate.

The Opportunity and Freedom PAC is being run by Austin Barbour, a longtime Republican operative and nephew of former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.

“We are excited about the launch of Opportunity and Freedom PAC,” Barbour said. “Should Governor Rick Perry choose to run for president, this organization will aggressively support him. Our first web video tells the story of who Rick Perry is, where he comes from, and some of what he accomplished as governor. As an Air Force veteran and leader of the ‘Great American jobs machine,’ Rick Perry is the perfect contrast to the failed liberal policies of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.”

Perry, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2012, says he’s thinking about running again in 2016.
