First lady Michelle Obama said that her daughter Sasha would have “got her head beaten in” during the march on Selma in 1965.
She made the remark in a White House video interview recapping the first family’s visit to the Alabama city on Saturday. The video was posted to YouTube March 8.
“And she went ahead with the march but on that day she got her head beaten in,” Michelle Obama said of a protester in the White House’s video commemorating the Obamas’ visit to Selma for a 50th anniversary march. “And for me, I thought about that and thought, that would have been Sasha on that day.”
