Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain took a major shot at Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” calling him the worst chairman he’s ever seen, and nothing more than an “echo chamber” for President Barack Obama. “General Dempsey is just back from Iraq observing the Iranian backed Shia militia with the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Soleimani, orchestrating the attack on Tikrit. This is the same guy that sent in thousands of copper-tipped IEDs into Iraq while we were fighting there, and killed hundreds of American soldiers and Marines. I mean it’s bizarre. And so I’m afraid that we will hear very little from them in the way of a strategy to defeat ISIS,” McCain told host Martha MacCallum.

“General Martin Dempsey at one point said that he would have to reserve the right to ask the president to put our troops on the ground to fight ISIS, if he felt that was what is necessary,” noted MacCallum.

“General Dempsey is the most disappointing cChairman of the Joint Chiefs I have seen, and I have seen many of them,” McCain shot back. “He says he may request that. He has supported the plan to completely withdraw from Afghanistan.” (VIDEO: John McCain: Obama’s ISIS Policy In ‘Tradition Of Neville Chamberlain’)

“He’s basically been the echo chamber for the president and one of the reasons why we are in the situation that we are in in the world today and particularly in the Middle East is because of his lack of knowledge or candor about the situation in the Middle East. He’s done great damage, and so all I can say is that he only has eight more months.”
