The Islamic State has purportedly released the names, photos and home addresses of 100 American military personnel Saturday, urging its stateside sympathizers to kill them.

Service members are allegedly being targeted because of their involvement in U.S. military campaigns against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

Although the group, calling itself the Islamic State Hacking Division, claims it got the information from government servers, officials think it could have been obtained off the Internet.

The New York Times reported what the Islamic State allegedly posted:

“With the huge amount of data we have from various different servers and databases, we have decided to leak 100 addresses so that our brothers in America can deal with you,” the Islamic State’s so-called Hacking Division said in the web posting.

It added: “And now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for?”

Defense officials who spoke to ABC News say the validity of the information hasn’t been confirmed, but they are still investigating. Military services are contacting the families of those being targeted.
