Andrew McCutchen — the Pirates’ all-star centerfielder — is a crowd favorite in Pittsburgh, but fans better get used to seeing a new version of “Cutch” roaming the outfield this coming season.
Since entering the league in 2009, McCutchen has been known just as much for his long dreadlocks as he has been for his stellar offense and defense, but that’s about to change. McCutchen teased fans on Twitter to keep their eyes peeled for a “big announcement,” and on Wednesday, Cutch made good on his promise.

That was McCutchen’s first haircut in over eight years. While his major style change might disappoint the Pittsburgh faithful, it’s for a good cause.
MLB.com plans on auctioning off McCutchen’s lopped-off locks and will donate the proceeds to a charity of the former MVP’s choosing.
