Video has emerged showing a man being viciously attacked on St. Louis’ MetroLink after he was asked what he thought about  the case of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old fatally shot by a Ferguson, Mo. police officer last August.

A St. Louis man named Twan Davis filmed the attack and uploaded it to Facebook.

The video shows the victim, a 43-year-old white man, talking with two young African-American males, one of whom is seen standing up on the train and acting erratically. It is unclear from the video what was being discussed. At one point the man standing leans towards the victim and then throws a barrage of punches. The man covers up to protect himself. The attacker’s friend also throws a punch. The original attacker kicks the victim once before he and two other men leave the train. Other passengers on the train sat idly by while the attack unfolded.

Davis was asked on Facebook what provoked the attack.

“They was talkin bout some Mike Brown shit,” Davis wrote, adding, “He was tryna use dude phone too or some shit and he said ‘No.'”

According to KTVI, the victim told police that his attackers did ask to borrow his cell phone as well as what he thought of the Brown shooting. The man told police he said that he hadn’t given much thought to the case.

Brown’s death sparked outrage among many civil rights groups and activists who believed that he was targeted because he was black. The officer who shot Brown, Darren Wilson, is white.
