Let your heart not be troubled, left-wingers, at least one potential progressive 2016 candidate believes he could beat Hillary Clinton in a Democratic primary.

In an appearance on Fusion’s “America” with host Jorge Ramos, self-proclaimed socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said he could come out victorious in a matchup with the former secretary of state.

“I think there is a lot of frustration and anger among working families who, in many cases, are working longer hours for low wages,” Sanders told Ramos. “Yet what they’re seeing is while their standard of living goes down, almost all new income goes to the top 1 percent. And we have this obscene level of income and wealth inequality. So the anger and frustration is out there.”

“Yes, I do think that if I ran, I could win”

Sanders, who is an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, added that he isn’t sure whether he would run as a Democrat.
