Boko Haram militants disguised themselves as preachers, rounded up villagers in a mosque and pretended to preach Islam before opening fire on the crowd and killing at least 24 Sunday.
“People didn’t know the Boko Haram men came for attack because they lied to our people that they came for preaching,” witness Simeon Buba told Reuters. “They opened fire on them and killed many people.”
The attack occurred in northeastern Nigeria.

Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, a terrorist organization with territory spanning Syria and Iraq, in early March.
Unsuccessful attempts at stopping the terror group’s six-year insurgency contributed to Goodluck Jonathan losing his re-election bid in Nigeria’s presidential elections last week, reported Reuters.
