Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono made money off of Hillary Clinton’s presidential announcement Sunday evening with a sneaky fundraising campaign.
Hirono sent out a fundraising email asking for donations to the Hillary Clinton campaign, saying “Hillary needs our support today, on the day she’s launching her campaign, to start strong. We have just a few more hours to make this a big success. Will you join me, and stand with Hillary?”
But Hirono, Hawaii’s first female senator, left out an important detail.
On the ActBlue donation page that Hirono links to, it says, “Your contribution will be divided evenly between Hillary Clinton and Mazie Hirono.”
You can donate between $5 and $1,000 or just write in your own amount.
