Malik Shabazz, president of Black Lawyers for America and former chairman of the New Black Panther Party, said on “CNN Newsroom” reacted to the Walter Scott shooting by saying that black men in America are “killed and hunted down” like animals. “The community here is in pain,” he said. “And the community here and all over the country is outraged that black men are being killed and hunted down like deer and like dogs. And there’s outrage here and outrage throughout America because no black man and almost no black person can say they will make it through the day or through the week without seeing another black man unarmed shot and killed.”

Give host Carol Costello some credit — she actually pressed Shabazz on whether or not the Scott family even wanted him there in the first place. “Has the Scott family invited you in?” she asked.

He hesitated. “The community here has invited me in. And from what I am understanding, they are under a tremendous amount of pressure right now…”

“I understand that, sir,” Costello pressed. “I was just wondering if the Scott family is behind you in your efforts.” (VIDEO: CNN Host Asks If Shooting Of Black Suspect By Black Cop Was Racially Motivated)

“I am sure they are, ma’am.” Shabazz said.

“So you are not going to meet with them today?”

“It’s likely that I may,” he responded.
