After losing his re-election bid a little over a year ago, an openly gay former D.C. councilmember has found a new calling in life: gay strip clubs.

The Washington Blade reported that Jim Graham, former councilman for Ward 1, one of D.C.’s more affluent districts, struck a deal with a local strip club to be a special events director for their new “Rock Hard Sunday” venue.

At Graham’s new “Rock Hard Sunday” event, the staff will be entirely composed of gay men.

And he wants it to be super gay.

Graham told the Blade, “It’s not going to be a straight club pretending to be gay. It’s going to be gay, and I’m going to make sure of it.”

Graham, who was well-known during his days on the council for wearing fashionable bow ties, said all the male dancers will don his trademark fashion statement, with most of them coming from the hundreds he has in his private wardrobe.

At some point during the night, the dancers will remove their bow ties and throw them to the eager men waiting in the audience, who can then cash them in for free drinks at the bar.

The strip club, called The House, normally operates with female entertainers, and has done so since 1979. It will now accommodate gay men on Thursdays and Sundays, with Graham leading the way.

Graham was a big supporter of strip clubs during his time on the council. In 2007, when construction of the Washington Nationals new stadium forced several strip clubs to relocate their businesses, he proposed legislation allowing them to move to locations near a church and a day care center, which was against D.C. zoning laws.
