Co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Mika Brzezinski, who is a 47-year-old adult who does not live under a rock, thought that Star Wars and Star Trek were the same thing. (VIDEO: Mika Brzezinski Pans Hillary’s ‘Set Up’ Campaign Events, ‘Flat-Voiced’ Messaging)

The revelation came when “Morning Joe” did a segment on the new Star Wars trailer. “So you’re like, a Trekkie?” asked Brzezinski as her co-hosts discussed the finer points of the Star Wars universe.

Basically the entire panel cut in to tell her that Trekkies liked Star Trek, not Star Wars. “They’re different?” she asked. “What is this?”

“Oh, my God,” co-host Joe Scarborough said, shaking his head. “Seriously? Can you please just stop?”

“What’s the difference?” she pressed.

“You’re embarrassing yourself,” said an empathetic Willie Geist.

“Could you just — just please put down the sharp objects that are cutting up your reputation right now, please?” Scarborough said.

“Luke Skywalker, Captain Kirk,” The Blaze’s Amy Holmes said helpfully. “They’re both cute, different series.”

The discussion moved on, but Geist got a few more laughs at Mika’s expense in the next hour when a segment featured an interview with actor George Takei. “So Mika, George Takei is Star Trek, to clear up from earlier. Not Star Wars.”

“I’m the only one who doesn’t like Star Wars or Star Trek,” she explained to a bemused Neil DeGrasse Tyson. “I’m not into the fantasy thing on the movies. I don’t get it.” This led the rest of the panel to explain that no, Star Trek is not a “fantasy” movie.
