Longtime Washington editor Brett Decker, a group director at White House Writers Group, has lost a beloved companion: his cat, Chop Suey.

“So sad,” Decker told The Mirror. “Chop Suey is St. Peter’s pet now, drinking out of a golden water bowl in heaven.”

Suey apparently enjoyed the notoriety he received from a previous press report. In 2012, Decker worried about the fate of General Tso, his Siamese Fighting Fish, with Suey around. So he tried to find a suitable foster home for his fish.

Suey died at 3 p.m. last Saturday.

“Chop Suey had a large fan base in the Capital,” Decker continued. “Senators, ambassadors, TV hosts and big-money financiers all knew that wherever we had dinner, the kitty got a doggy bag. Chop Suey used to like Capital Grill the best, but in recent years preferred Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons in Georgetown because the bison filets were leaner than beef. An aristo-cat, to be sure. RIP.”
