The Clinton Foundation is touting its “commitment to accountability” in the wake of major scandals over foreign donations in exchange for political favors.
Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has come under fire amid reports her family’s Foundation was getting donations from foreign interests while she served as secretary of state.

But the image change might be too late. A new Reuters report shows the Clinton Foundation is refiling five years of tax returns because they were riddled with errors. A New York Times report details how the Clintons took money from a state-owned Russian atomic agency that was trying to boost its uranium interests.
Adding to the scandal, the Washington Examiner reports that “[t]wenty-two of the 37 corporations nominated for a prestigious State Department award — and six of the eight ultimate winners — while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State were also donors to the Clinton family foundation.”
To fix its image, the Foundation now says it’s taking steps to increase transparency and accountability. Not only will there be policy changes, but Hillary Clinton will step down from the Foundation’s board.
“The Clinton Foundation is committed to improving millions of lives around the world,” the Foundation says. “In light of Secretary Clinton’s decision to run for President, Secretary Clinton has stepped down from the Clinton Foundation board.”
“The Foundation will increase the frequency of disclosure of its donors from annually to quarterly, publishing new contributors beginning in July 2015, and then each quarter thereafter,” the Foundation continues. “After the already scheduled [Clinton Global Initiative] International conference in May (CGI Middle East & Africa), CGI will not hold any CGI International events, nor will it accept contributions or sponsorships from foreign governments, other than meeting attendance fees.”
“The Clinton Foundation only will accept funding from foreign governments that have funded Clinton Foundation programs, namely: Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom,” the Foundation said.
“Funding from these governments will support the economic development or climate-focused work of the Clinton Climate Initiative, the Clinton Development Initiative, and the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership,” the Foundation said on its website.
