And you thought the Starbucks race campaign was annoying.

WaPo’s race writer Wesley Lowery, who prides himself on a being a real reporter — he recently trashed CNN’s Anderson Cooper and NBC’s Joe Scarborough for being subpar entrants to an influential journalists list — is being dispatched to cover the red carpet at this weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Possible questions from Lowery include: “Why does it have to be a red carpet?”

This may seriously be the worst White House Correspondents’ Dinner yet — ex-Politico reporter Patrick Gavin has thoroughly trashed the event with his film Nerd PromBuzzFeed won’t even throw a party this year; and Wesley Lowery will be on the red carpet?

Somebody should probably warn the celebs to do their Ferguson homework.

The Mirror asked Wesley for a taste of what we can expect from his red carpet prowess. So far, no response as he’s busy tweeting and sprucing up his tux.

Don’t worry. They won’t just let Wesley roam around the event — he’ll be behind the rope line.

But watch out for the photogs, Wes. They’re not exactly big fans of some dude with a cell phone camera getting in their way.
