The wife of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has quit her Wall Street job as the family prepares for an apparent run for president in 2016.

The Fox Business Network first reported Friday afternoon that Mary Pat Christie is resigning her job at Angelo Gordon & Co., an investment advisory firm.

“Mrs. Christie has decided to take a hiatus from her work in the finance world to spend more time with her family and young children,” a Christie spokesman told the network. “She recently resigned her position as a managing director at Angelo Gordon.”

Christie, a Republican, acknowledges he is considering a run for the White House.

The New Jersey Star-Ledger reported that Mary Pat Christie “has been the primary breadwinner in the Christie family during Chris Christie’s governorship.”

“The household earned just under $700,000 in 2013, according to the Christie’s 2014 tax returns,” the paper reported Friday. “The bulk of that money, some half a million dollars, came from the First Lady’s salary and other compensation from a partnership payout at Cantor-Fitzgerald that year.”
