In 2013, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton thought gay marriage should be left up to the states. This week, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a case that could force all states to recognize same sex marriage, and Hillary is fully on board with a federal gay marriage mandate.

“So for me, marriage had always been a matter left to the states,” Hillary told National Public Radio in 2013. “And in many of the conversations that I and my colleagues and supporters had I fully endorsed the efforts by activists to work state by state. And in fact that is what is working.”

As the Supreme Court hears arguments for legalization of same-sex marriage in all states, Hillary, whose husband signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law with her support, changed her Facebook profile picture to a rainbow logo for her campaign.
