The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is a subsidiary body of the U.S. Department of Defense. Tasked with developing the latest wave of next generation weaponry, DARPA blends the line between modern warfare and science fiction, and its latest project is definitely one of its most impressive.

The Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) program combines a real-time optical guidance system with self-steering ammunition, allowing snipers to change the trajectory of their shots to hit evading targets.

Basically, it’s a magic bullet.

Back in February, DARPA “completed its most successful round of live-fire tests to date. An experienced shooter using the technology demonstration system repeatedly hit moving and evading targets. Additionally, a novice shooter using the system for the first time hit a moving target,” and the footage from the demonstration proves the phrase, “you can run, but you can’t hide” has never been truer.
